School Values and Ethos
The school aims:
- to provide the best possible education for each child within the context of a caring Christian community
- to develop skills and the will to use those skills that will enable the child to acquire knowledge independently and develop a love of learning
- to enable each child to develop self-confidence, a sense of personal worth and to reach their true potential
- to develop consideration for the needs of others and a sense of social responsibility
- to develop understanding of the Christian faith, based on the teaching of the Bible and of the Church of England, and an awareness of Christian values
- to develop personal and moral values and to foster respect for other cultures, religions and ways of life
- to develop a concern for the environment and an understanding of the world in which we live.
Our vision is:
Jesus said: I have come that they might have life in all its fullness [John 10:10]
We seek to encourage the children of Cockernhoe School to develop well in every way- spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, moral and social. And our vision for their education is set within a wider framework which is permeated by four basic elements:
Wisdom
Hope
Community
Dignity
These four values will rotate through the year, so Wisdom is September to Christmas, Hope will be January to Easter and Community will be the Summer term. Dignity will then be September 2020 and then the cycle will begin again in Spring 2021.
The School values:
Throughout the year, the School has a monthly value taken from Value in Schools.
Here are this year's values:
